Iowa evangelist Tom Sooter is more than just a big fan of Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. Tom Sooter has joined the Iowa Faith Leader Coalition, Trump’s organization of Christian Nationalists that propelled him to victory in the Iowa caucuses this year.
Donald Trump has boasted of the endorsement from Tom Sooter, and is a big fan of Sooter’s evangelical theology.
It’s particularly frightening to realize, then, that in recent sermons, Sooter has told church audiences that the violent conflict between Israel and Gaza is the beginning of World War III. In one recent sermon, Sooter declared:
“Joel 3:14, prophetically, this particular verse tells us what we’re seeing coming about right now, today, 21st century. There’s coming a day. It’s called World War III. The Book of the Revelation. It’s all about how five different nations, along with Russia, will come down and attack Israel. By the way, you see all of that working right now, and this huge battle, the battle of Armageddon, Joel calls it the Valley of Decision, will be fought. By the way, in my whole entire life, I have never heard politicians and people talk about, like, every day, language, World War III. Have you heard that too? So, we’re approaching it much faster than we might think.”
It’s no coincidence that Donald Trump has been saying much the same thing. There are no Democratic politicians saying that we’re headed toward World War III, but Donald Trump has said that, over and over again. It’s a line he gets from evangelical Christian Nationalists like Tom Sooter.
Tom Sooter believes that the current conflict between Israel and Gaza is going to start World War III, which will not just be an ordinary war, but will culminate in the Battle of Armageddon, and unleash a religious genocide in which Christians slaughter billions of non-Christians and gain totalitarian dominion over the entire planet. Sooter also says that demons and dragons and evil frogs will be part of this war.
“I think this is really what’s going to take place and is taking place right now. Revelation chapter 16. Remember verse 13, “and I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the Beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, (demons we would call them today) demonion, working miracles which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. “
It’s chilling to think that these are the foreign policy ideas that are going into the ears of Donald Trump, and that Trump is currently the frontrunner in the 2024 presidential election.
